School holidays are fast approaching and after a long cold winter cooped up inside, what better way to way to have the best kids holidays in Spain than heading south to sunny Malaga?
Here we have come up with ten fun things to do with your family during the school holidays in Malaga:
1. Take the chocolate and churro taste challenge!
Churros are long deep-fried donuts served with thick hot chocolate for dipping, typically eaten at breakfast time or as an afternoon snack. Decide for yourselves which famous churro establishment is the best in town:
Casa Aranda: The oldest churro place in town has been churning out churros since 1932. Located at Calle Herrería del Rey, 3, a narrow alley way near the Central Market Atarazanas.
La Malagueña: Make the thinner typical from Malaga style churros called Tejeringos. Located in Calle Sebastián Souvirón near the H & M shop.
Café Madrid: A real old-style Spanish bar located at Calle Calderería, 1, just near Plaza del Carbón. If mum and dad are getting tired of churros, try one of the delicious types of their home-made tortillas Españolas. (Churros only served at breakfast time here)
2. Family portraits for posterity!
Rent a bike and search out the “sand sculptures” at three different beaches of Malaga. Climb the sculptures and immortalize your Malaga school holiday trip entwined in the letters of the sculptures of the Malagueta, Misericordia and El Dedo beach. Ask our friendly bike rental staff for maps and directions on how to get to the beaches. 
3. Monkey around at the Bioparc in Fuengirola!
Rated as one of the best zoos in the world by National Geographic magazine, it is well worth a visit. Easy to get to on the Cercanias C1 train from the Malaga Centro Alameda station. Buy your combo ticket from the machines in the station and travel for free! The zoo is just 600 metres away from the Fuengirola station. C/Camilo José Cela, 6, Fuengirola.
4. Be a scientist!
For the young scientists in the family a visit to Principia Science Museum is a must! This interactive space is fun for the whole family. Easy to get to by bike following the bike path on Calle Armengual de la Mota, the path will take you to the door of the museum which is on Avenida de Luis Buñuel, 6, not far from the Malaga Football Stadium- La Rosaleda.
5. For the football fans!
Speaking of football- why not take a guided tour of the Malaga F.C. stadium and museum? Run on the pitch, visit the press room, the VIP zone, the locker room and hear all about the highs and lows (mostly lows we are afraid) of the over 100 year history of this local club. Again, easily reachable by bike and very bike friendly. Just ask where you can park your bike inside the stadium. Tours run on the hour from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Entrance is 10€ for adults and 5€ for children. There are no tours on match days. Address: Paseo de Martiricos. Just follow the bike path from Calle Armengual de la Mota and it will take you right to the stadium.
6. Time to eat!
Looking for a kid friendly and fun for the whole family dinner venue with a touch of OLÉ? Then we highly recommend the restaurant VINO MIO. Run by a lovely Dutch lady, Helene, the fusion menu has something for everyone including a kids menu and even frikandel! From Wednesday to Sunday there is a fantastic authentic flamenco show with dancing, guitar, singing and of course, audience participation. 7. For the skaters
For fans of BMX, Skate, Rollerblades or scooters, a visit to the Malaga Skatepark Ruben Alcantara is essential. This 10,000 square metre skate park includes a halfpipe, miniramp, street plaza and dirt tracks for BMX bikes. Location: Calle Camino Cuarto S/N (no number) http://www.skateparkmalaga.info
8. Music to your ears!
You can find plenty of that at the Malaga Interactive Museum of Music. Experience the sounds and try out instruments from many different cultures of the world. The museum is located in the Palacio Conde de las Navas, Calle Beatas, 15, not far from Calle Alamos.
9. Ship Ahoy!
Watch the sunset over Malaga while enjoying a boat ride in the Malaga harbour. With several boat lines to choose from in the Port of Malaga, this is a nice relaxing end to your fun in the sun day! Some of the boat lines advertise ‘dolphin- watching’. It is true- there ARE dolphins out there- but you have to be REALLY lucky to see them, so- keep your eyes peeled!
